Michael Kranz has been seeking perfection in his craft for more than 15 years. His hobby,
love of woodworking and his drive for building the perfect product help to explain why he
chose the name "artios" for his organization. ARTIOS, Inc. operates out of Greensboro,
North Carolina and is dedicated to bringing you the perfect high-end designer box.
Artios is a Greek word that means, "Perfect, perfectly fitted or fully equipped". Any of these
definitions apply to pieces bearing the Artios name. Products bearing the Artios name come from
a demand for fine craftsmanship and years of experience. It is the belief of Artios that
craftsmanship, sound design and the use of the finest materials available are a must in
order to achieve perfection.
Michael was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, and
graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in Art/Studio with an
emphasis in sculpture. He studied as an apprentice in furniture design and woodworking at
Kirby Studios in Bennington, Vermont. Upon relocating to Greensboro, he continued his
pursuit of excellence as he worked 5 years for Marshall/James, Inc., a small high end
furniture company. With his extensive experience, he launched ARTIOS, Inc.
Michael is conservative in approach to his craft, using both traditional and proven designs.
He allows only the finest veneers and demands a high standard of exact precision of himself
and his small staff. ARTIOS products are built with a design that stands the test of time.
The goal of Michael and ARTIOS, Inc. is to have you appreciate your investment and the care of
